Evidence for Evolution

Dude I’ve been so preoccupied lately that I’m failing at writing and keeping up the site. Between politics and keeping up on the news and gathering my information from all other sources, I lack the creativity to keep up my own. I also did an epic fail the other day when I was entering a cheat code in a video game to unlock a costume and wound up overwriting the saved game with ‘New Game’ and clicking “Yes” when it asked, “Hey moron, are you really sure– because this is going to wipe out four days worth of game play if you do…”

I’m now on punishment by my son to get back to the last save point before I deleted the game and then get to an impressive progressed point.

Since I’m still on video game probation- here’s the latest ZOMGitsCriss vid.

At least I don’t have to hand write 1000 times “I will not stupidly enter an untested cheat code in a video game that results in wiping out the entire saved game all for a stupid yellow costume.” [yet]

Mr. Deity and the Promised Land

Saturday was a complete blur. Friday night I watched Gamer [it was okay... but silly me took the Dramamine for a game I didn't play and I swallowed it when it was actually chewable] towards the end of the action packed movie I fell asleep and additionally missed Conan’s last show. I think I mainly played games with Jonathon on Saturday and did a ton of washing clothes– OH! I took apart one of J’s old wheelchairs and refurbished it. I was sick of waiting for help and red tape when he so desperately needs a way to get around. His seating still isn’t ideal, but it’s better than nothing and better than what he had. I managed to slice my thumb under the skin giving myself a wonderful blood blister that I stupidly released right before working on rusted parts and I’m combating a slight infection that I’m keeping on top of. I guess I was busy Saturday.

Today I bought Ash some groceries to help her with her ailment and then took her and Isla out to lunch with Jonathon and I, picked up some video games at Gamestop [awesome used game sales on top of my discount I get with my nifty frequent gamer card], more clothes washing and that’s about it. Little time for much else.

THAT is why I didn’t update. I didn’t know what to update. Reading the Haiti death toll is about 150,000 -200,000 [depending on your news source]. It made me just feel all that closer to my kids, being thankful for the life I’m providing my son, that I can help my daughter a little– and being thankful what I’ve been able to provide for us and having them both be such strong, kind hearted, intellectual individuals.

So now that my evening has wound down and I chewed my Dramamine this time [I want the same cozy sleep I had last night!]– I’ve nothing much to add this evening, except to share the latest Mr. Deity.

Life Unexpected Part 1.5

I know that I wrote earlier I was going to review this tonight, however, I am watching this show in two parts– Big Bang Theory trumped the second half. I’m a creature of habit.

The television show thus so far about a young girls whose parents had a high school fling, the father thought the mom had an abortion and all truths come out when the daughter finds her biological parents prior to her 16th birthday so that she can emancipate herself out of the foster care system hell she’s lived in her entire life.

Very likable, not over the top and I can’t wait to finish it. In the meantime, here’s a clip from Youtube that they were watching which caused me to of course look up and post [maybe not the *exact* same one].

I just followed the link to it and watched it literally 10 seconds ago (not counting the time to hit my site and write this).

New Mr. Deity Episode

So I only had one correspondence with the man (because I suck at writing back) He’s awesome as all hell, witty, talented and I strongly suggest subscribing on YouTube and becoming a fan. Maybe one of these days I’ll see if I can persuade the almighty creator for an interview to get answers for life’s more perplexing questions like; why my hair is perfection when I get ready in the morning and then as soon as I grab my keys it freaks out and winds up in a ponytail.–

Here’s the latest episode– I’ll be adding it to the humor section after it’s spent some time down here in the main area of the site.

Terror Ball (Video) The Daily Show

AGAIN? What the hell is wrong with people? What the hell is wrong with Rudy Giuliani forgetting about 9-11? I thought we were NEVER to forget. What about the anthrax scare that had us afraid to open packages and envelopes for almost a year? Or all the other incidents that happened under Dubbya?

Even if the former Mayor flubbed and meant to say “Post 9/11″, since the beefed up security– still… what the freaking hell dude? Nidal Hasan didn’t enter the military within the year that President Obama took office, not to mention all other domestic attacks that he seems to be glossing over.

Republicans are hitting my last nerve.

I started to watch this last night after drinking half a pot of sleepy-time tea that was seeped a little too long preventing me from watching my beloved The Daily Show in its entirety (I heart you Jon. I heart you much). As I drifted off to the land of slumber, the following video was embedded in my dreams causing me to shake my head in disbelief until I woke up at 5:51AM to get ready for work.

Oddly enough, I had completely forgotten about the clip until I saw it this morning on my daily feed.  Cheese and rice people!

From HP: Jon Stewart skewered Obama’s national security critics last night for dismissing the terror attacks that happened under Bush while coming down on the current president for his defense record. Both Rudy Giuliani and Dana Perino have recently stated that there were no domestic terror attacks under Bush, omitting not only 9/11, but the anthrax attacks and the attempted shoe bomber attack.

Giuliani made these remarks on “Good Morning America,” playing what Stewart has dubbed “terror ball.” He claimed the score is now Bush -0 Obama -1 and noted that the rules of terror ball dictate the winner has the lowest score. He showed clips of both Monica Crowley and Bill O’Reilly getting in on “the game,” rationalizing pre-Obama terror attacks and excoriating Obama for the ones during his presidency.

John Oliver came out to explain the complicated rules, finally admitting that terrorist attacks only count when they happen under a Democrat because we all know Republicans are better at national security.

Iron Man 2 Trailer

I AM Iron Man! <-which is what I would say if I were Iron Man, but since I’m not I can only share the trailer for the upcoming feature film that’s scheduled for release on May 2nd twenty-ten!

I’ve been awaiting this release since I left the theater after Iron Man in 2008. Oh the anticipation, oh the wonderful build up, oh I really hope they don’t screw this up.

I have great faith in Jon Favreau and I’ve been a fan of his for many years. I’d really hate for that to end. Did you read that Jon? The awesomeness of this film and my adoration for your work is reliant on this film.

Worst. Book Burning. Ever.

Oh them Southern Baptist Evangelical Christians, bless their hearts… they try so hard…
Brought to us by Right Wing Watch

The Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina grabbed headlines in mid-October when it announced a “Halloween Book Burning.” It was going to be anything but your typical book burning, assuming there is such a thing.

To be sure, they planned to burn heavy metal music and smutty movies. But they also had country, gospel, and Christian contemporary music and videos about Jesus in their crosshairs. Most shockingly, they said that they would burn all non-King James versions of the Bible — aka “Satan’s bibles.”

They also announced a long list of “Satan’s popular books written by heretics” which would be burned. And to top it all off, they offered “fried chicken, and all the sides.”

But when the big day came around, a combination of rain, protesters, and a state law against burning paper all conspired against them. Here’s what happened:

And here, in their own words, is what Amazing Grace said about their quote-unquote book burning:
We wanted to say that the Book Burning was a great success[.] We wanted to thank all the Bible doubters who prayed for rain with us. All the protestors and media got wet; we were inside where it was nice and dry[.] We are not glad people got wet, we are glad that His Word was honored. Some have written praising God that he intervened and stopped the Book Burning because of the rain, protestors, and state laws about burning paper. Nothing was stopped. Our goal was to destroy garbage as noted below, and we did just that. We didn’t care how it was destroyed; only that it was destroyed. These same people must have never heard about “Paper, Rock, & Scissors.” Scissors cut paper, and paper tears real easy. We destroyed everything as planned. Praise God! God answered every prayer that everyone prayed, but they don’t like the answer.
