Teaser

The Whiteman Brothers are at it again and I can’t wait to see their latest work in its entirety. I guess I’m going to have to wait because all I got was this little teaser that I nabbed from Jesse’s space. Maybe this is all I’m going to get- a trailer to loop for an hour and a half and make up my own story to go along with it. Perhaps it’ll be some wonderful Space SciFi fantasy piece where we discover that we’re really mutated souls on some in-between plane where live beings who look completely different than we do (because we’re now disfigured mutated souls… we’re what happens after you die) they’re telling chilling stories about us from tales that stem from a man who happened upon our kind several centuries ago- a rip the in fabric causes us to be spotted again and this time we see THEM. Our truth spilled into our world where we find the portal into death is what we’ve always thought was the beginning of life… or hopefully I can just watch the film when the time comes and not get into screen writing at all.

Here’s the trailer/teaser/they can see you and you can’t see them- you think you’re looking at a trailer of an upcoming indie film but in all actuality they just threw some thing together so they could steal your stuff while you’re not looking (I made that up I think)

Blast my stupid, idiotic, dumb, mean, cruel, horrible, EVIL computer!!!

I’ve yet to get my laptop fixed. My mean, cruel, idiotic, stupid, horrid, dumb, moronic… you get the picture. There is ONE benefit in using my HDTV as my desktop computer monitor (because sitting in the middle of my living room- typing so the whole world can see what I’m writing is not a benefit.) I can watch films/shows off the internet properly.

Amazon sent me a link to their new “Videos On Demand” and I was able to watch (for free) the new pilots and season premier’s of shows yet to air! :D Yay me and all the other people who have done that. The bonus part of going there other than seeing shows before they air? No commercial interruption (unlike Hulu)! The rest of the viewing… well it’ll cost you a little to watch shows/films et al. I don’t think it’ll be worth it considering the films run the same to rent as it does at the local video store and much more than Netflix or Blockbuster. This poses a problem for people such as myself. Usually when I rent a DVD I don’t watch the entire thing the same night. In fact, it may take several attempts to view one movie (depending on what’s going on in my life).

What has been going on in my life this month? A LOT! I shared the biggest news (Isla) the rest is for me to know… and that’s it.

Films that don’t *need* to be made, but would sure as hell be fun to make.

Zombie Revenge: There are way too many films about people surviving zombie uprisings. Well how about a film where zombies must survive the uprising only to be put down by the man but instead of just allowing their heads to be lopped off, they fight back and WIN? It’s not really their fault they became undead. I mean they were alive… then dead… then brought back to life (kind of) only to be put back down again. Can’t a zombie get a freaking break? Well in Revenge of the Zombies… or Zombie Revenge or Dawn of Your Demise… they put all your hard hours of Zombie Survival 101 to waste.

Jackass goes to Crystal Lake: Jackass takes on and gets taken out by Jason in the latest of the Friday the 13th films. Imagine you’re Jason who has had decades of mayhem, massacres and successful murders… but now you’re pitted against a crew of freaks and misfits who are the most masochistic sadists in this modern age. The best part of the film after the moronic stunts are pulled off by the Jackass crew? They all die! :D

City of Fallen Angels: A feel good movie of the year where Southern California does crumble into the ocean with no time for anyone to escape. Imagine a world with no more Hollywood tripe, no paparazi and well… just a life without S Cali is bliss.

Chocolate Depression. I don’t really know what this one will be about. I have some Buffy candy bars from 2000 which, other than being old, are not to be touched. The film would center around the life that goes on around the forbidden treats. MY life. I’m narcissistic… and I was looking at my chocolate bars, hence an idea was born.

I actually saw the most awesome of concepts today when Jonathon and I were strolling through Hollywood Video. It was SO awesome that I shrieked “AWESOME!” when I saw it and read the synopsis to the unimpressed boy. I never got to rent it :( “Vampire Effect” Hong Kong singing duo The Twins star in a film described as Buffy The Vampire Hunter meets Blade. With the help of a high kicking Hong Kong Ambulance driver,(Jackie Chan) two girls who just want to have fun confront the grave responsibility of safekeeping the world from vampire domination.

Asian action vampire rocking run! I can’t believe I missed this one!

I begged and pleaded with the boy… and I left with a Naruto video game rental and “Doomsday” for me to watch because I liked the tagline “Mankind comes with an expiration date” ‘Buffy the Vampire Hunter’- awwww that’s kind of cute. “My name is Buffy and I hunt the Vampire!” “Watch out demon evil baddies- I’m Buffy and I’m going to hunt you!” “Fear me, for I am the Vampire Hunter- let me get out my scope and peer upon your feeding ground for a bit whilst I set up little traps and decoys.”

I’ll watch the Vampire Effect when I can rope someone into watching it with me. It’s awesome goodness of pure campy enjoyment that needs to be shared. I don’t wanna keep it to myself.

Feel free to share your silver screen ideas.

Holy Tear Flooding, Batman!

Today was a wonderful day. I took my offspring out to lunch and then some shopping (and getting toys for little Isla who will be born any day now… little Winnie the Pooh- old style- finger puppets that I plan on tickling her little tummy with :) ) and then after I dropped Ashley off demanding that she give birth STAT, Jonathon and I came home to play some old school video games from Namco.

Yes, it was a very good day- and a very tearful evening. (sniff) It was another evening where I stepped on my exercise machine to work during a film and the film I happened to pick was one that taunted me the majority of the day. I hadn’t heard about it, but while I was tryinig to search for a movie to use my free Redbox coupon for (I bought a large iced coffee at McDonalds) I saw ‘An American Crime’. The more I couldn’t find a copy on Redbox, at Hollywood Video and it was a short wait on Netflix… the more I HAD to see it!

I won’t tell you *how* I came across the film… I’ll just say “Barbwire fences, shotguns, trenches, 3.4 corpses and some moonshine.” and I’ll leave it at that and allow your imagination to figure out how I happened to get a hold of a copy.

The remark I made about Ellen Page after seeing The Fragments of Tracey or Tracey Fragments or Fragile Rock Tracey… something like that… I take it back.

An American Crime is haunting, captivating, disturbing and I cried non-stop the last fifteen minutes of the film and seriously… I need a hug :(

I have the trailer to share and synopsis, and I beg everyone to view this movie. Not because it’s disturbing or mentally damaging… but because it teaches a valuable lesson of stepping in.

Here’s the trailer…

Here’s the Synopsis:
Based on a shocking true story, director Tommy O’Haver’s grisly drama centers on Indiana housewife and mother Gertrude Baniszewski (Catherine Keener), who imprisons and tortures a 16-year-old girl in the basement. When Gertrude takes in boarder Sylvia Likens (Ellen Page), she has no idea that her life will soon become a horrific nightmare. The supporting cast includes Bradley Whitford as the prosecuting attorney at the ensuing trial.

The Tracey Fragments

Rated ‘R’ Independent flick starring Ellen Page from Hard Candy and Juno. She’s pretty much type cast or the girl has no range. No clue but regardless her performances are always raw and gritty. I like that.

The Tracey Fragments is shown in fragmented graphics for the most part which does get distracting and takes away from the story. The story however it a Memento-ish piece that tells the tale from to beginning… in fragments and jumps around the place here and there, only you don’t really get lost.

Tracey starts off blending her fantasy with reality as she gets home to tell her dysfunctional parents that she lost her little brother, her brother that she hypnotized into thinking he’s a dog). Ridden with so much guilt and pain, she rides the buses and roams around the city searching for him.

You get drawn into her awkward, tortured school life and home life that casts a shadow on how she got to where she’s at and why inside her mind it’s not so fun. This is definitely a journey into the crazy.

I guess what I saw is that her world was all she had all how she was able to decipher her surroundings. It’s difficult to be ‘normal’ or know what that word means when you’ve no real examples of it. What made her different? What could she change if she wanted to and how? So many questions thrown out at her and absolutely no way to get an answer. So she puts up with the bullying, humiliations, hard knocks of life that are thrown at her before and after she begins her search for her little brother who you can only guess his fate.

Her mind takes her reality and churns it into something she could possibly stomach or live with, mainly her poor decisions and the ramifications of those choices.

If I were to grade this film I’d give it a C+ <- wow, well looky there, I *did* grade it.

The Dark Knight Review w/out Spoilers

Let me start off by saying I’m a huge cynic when it comes to movies that are hyped up. Once people begin to rave about a film, I automatically search for the flaws. It’s my nature that stems from being let down so many times from a long awaited film that flopped and flipped before my eyes and caused me to count each second of my life that was wasted.

Perhaps it was appropriate that the prelude to the blockbuster season was fittingly a trip to NYC to attend the 2008 NYC Comic-Con and sit before those who created the geek genus: Dick Ayers, Nick Cardy, Irwin Hasen, Carmine Infantino, Joe Kubert, Stan Lee, Jerry Robinson, John Romita, Sr, Joe Simon, Joe Sinnott and Mort Walker to name a few (you can view my footage here ).

Last weekend Iron Man left me excited, high energy and above all impressed. It was Marvels glove that was tossed in the ring with heavy hitter Batman Begins. They quickly erased the faux pas that was Hulk and replaced it with The Incredible Hulk. While The Incredible Hulk was a decent movie, it was still a light weight contender in comparison to Iron Man and Batman Begins.

Batman Begins changed near insulting comic book hero film adaptation and raised the bar. It was nice to know that the industry did take note and changed the class for good.

While I was all ready to assemble a butt kicking suit last weekend and take a stand against the bad guys, this weekend it’s quite a polar effect. It’s been three hours since I left The Dark Knight and I feel heavy hearted. Jerry Robinson, the claimed creator of the Joker, was consulted for the The Dark Knight so that the villian can get back to his original sociopath beginnings. They did it hauntingly well.

Once The Dark Knight began, every word that I’ve heard about this film, every promo, every heart wrenching reminder of Heath Ledgers passing, they all flew out of my head. It begins in a real world filled with real people with real agendas and real tragedy, or so that was my impression. It wasn’t painted pretty or glammed up for the viewer. It was a comic book legend being spilled into our familiar surroundings.

I had a been a fan of Batman through my entire existence and watched the evolution of the character through various platforms. Some had excited me and some disappointed me. I’m thankful the evolution didn’t end with Batman and Robin.

Christian Bale has been an actor who has grown on me over the years. I had questioned his talents (over hyped) when he first arrived on the scene; and many years later- he has yet to give a disappointing performance. He is the bat man. He is Bruce Wayne- he brought life back into a character that had become stale on screen.

Maggie Gyllenhaal also brought realism in her role as Rachel Dawes. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent was perfect casting. Gary Oldman rocks it again (omg I could go on and on about everyone) Heath Ledger regardless of his tragic ending gave a chilling, gritty and unforgettable portrayal of The Joker.

The story lines that intertwined were well written, well acted and blended together flawlessly.

It’s difficult to write a review without talking about *what* made a movie so great.

I guess I’ll have to end this the way I brought my film viewing experience to an end. I sat there respectfully through the credits to see all the wonderful names of each person who had a hand in making this movie as tears welled up in my eyes (for obvious reasons) and left in silence.

Thank you Christopher Nolan, once more.

1 more thing, there are no video games in the works (other than for mobile phones) THANK YOU!

Boondock Saints 2? For reals this time?

Midway through watching the latest Hannah Montana episode, I decided to end the insanity and check out what was being dugg. This next headline of course captured my attention and made the surrounding world fade away instantly (crub! I think there was a pet or two I was supposed to feed)

‘Boondock Saints 2? Plot details + Production Diary!’ Wow, this looked vaguely like something I had read a few years ago that never seemed to pan out. Well with Troy Duffy having to deal with some legal issues that just wrapped up, I guess everything is getting the green light… maybe… Damn I hate rumors.

From the golden post at GeeksofDoom written by “The Movie God”

“The boys (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery) and their father Il Duce (Billy Connolly) have been living in seclusion, deep in Ireland on a sheep farm, away from everything, when Il Duce’s brother comes to tell them that a priest was murdered in Boston and it was set up to look like it was done by the Saints.

The boys rush back to deal with it, while they’re supposedly ailing father stays on the farm. There’s a new character who’s kind of the Rocco character named Romeo; funny, but much more bad ass. As soon as the brothers land, they start picking off anyone who may be tied to this framing. Willem Dafoe is not in the sequel, a new FBI detective comes into play — a female with a strong southern accent. She wants to catch the Saints and is working with some of the detectives in the first movie (like Bob Marley) who, as we know, decided the Saints were good and began helping them, but they don’t think she knows this, so they need to go with that. Eventually their father comes back into play and tells them what’s going on, which sets in motion a full-on flashback of the story of Il Duce from day one.

Oh, hell freakin’ yes. <-his words, I have to write… Oh hell FUHreaking YES!

On a separate note, something you kids might not know that we find within this interview: The Dark Knight is brought up (like you’re surprised) — it turns out that Heath Ledger was one of the actors that came at Troy Duffy about being one of the brothers. Apparently this was right around when he was brand new and Duffy needed the brothers to look more alike and it was too difficult to find someone who looked like Ledger, so he wasn’t able to use him. Interesting.
To listen to the whole interview with more details on the lawsuit, fan questions, and all sorts more stuff, check it out below.” Continue to follow this link so you can get to the links to click

I’m torn, should I be excited? The Dark Knight certainly was a phenomenal sequel, but such a great piece of work is rare- especially in todays industry. Has too much time gone by where the magic from the original film is lost? Was Boondock Saints Troy’s one hit wonder? If this does pan out, will I go see it? Should I be excited? I am now going to pop the original in my DVD player and probably go feed some cats.

The Dark Knight…

I’m not really a big crowd kind of girl regardless of how much I want to see something, hence me still bouncing anxiously in my seat at home and going stir crazy because I have yet to see The Dark Knight.

It’s a film I’ve been drooling about for the past couple of years- since I first saw a peek of behinds the scenes “in make-up” pics back in 2006. Couple that with the soul crushing pre-mature death of a phenomenal actor who had only begun to show us his range and brought talent back to Hollywood, this movie is perhaps one that rises above the rest where “I really HAVE to see it!”

A trusted friend (my Russian Reality TV co-star) assures me this is worth the hype- that no hype is big enough, that I really will die if I don’t see it… (I’m paraphrasing of course).  In order to make sure my life isn’t ended prematurely, I’m going go to see it tomorrow morning at a stadium theater friendly time of “first thing in the morning”.

Last weekend was a pleasant surprise to view decent Marvel films and this weekend I get to see the sequel to a film that finally paid a decent tribute to DC and the darkened hero.

I CAN’T WAIT I CAN’T WAIT I CAN’T WAIT I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday Night Flick

Raising Arizona: One of the few films I can actually stand Nicolas Cage aka “Plastic Face Man”

Next up: Of Mice and Men. I loved the book and when I saw the film, it was a great tribute… even if the read did start as a mandatory piece for my ‘Novel’ class in high school. Hmm… I remember the last year I was in school (Jr year) I took Drama (as usual), Novel, Creative Writing, English, I was an English Tutor for one period, and then (of course) art and shock of all shocks; electronics (which I swapped science for, and I loved science :( it’s not fair they made me choose)… was I in any Math or History classes??

I AM Iron Man

Okay, my hiatus is on hiatus so I can write this. Yesterday I took Jonathon in the new to us car (which he loves because it’s a Malibu and his crush is from Malibu). It’s a great ride and it’s nice to drive around with music again (although it has a cassette player- which doesn’t work, but yay to the dictating radio stations who once in a while play songs I like). It was off to the theater for the first showing of The Incredible Hulk and a faint inducing price of 10 dollars for a small box of Reece’s Pieces, a soft pretzel and medium Coke Zero.

The film actually had me excited about the Hulk! For those who are aware, Jonathon is a huge Hulk fan and has watched the 2003 version every week since 2003. The boring, painful to watch film that has caused me to hit my head against the wall a myriad of times and ways every instance he’s asked for me to put it in his player. “WHY???? IT’S SOOO BORING!!”

Edward Norton breathed a new life into the character that I was never really into that Bill Bixby had me annoyed with the overly sensitive male at an early age. The computer Hulk in this film was much more impressive, did the uber cool moves of the video game that the other film lacked STEEL FISTS!!!!!!!!!! I mean dude, he rips the car apart and creates steel fists and then SMASH! The graphics were cool and less cartoonish- plus the excitement of Jonathon seeing a couple of people he had recently met- Stan Lee and Lou Forrigno “I know them!!!”

The ending prompted me to grab the boy and run to see Iron Man… which was OMG FUH-REAKISHLY awesome in every sense of the word. RDJ has always impressed with his acting abilities and this film was no exception. The writing was even more impressive… HE BUILDS HIS OWN SUIT IN A CAVE OUT OF SCRAPS and kicked massive ass (I SAID ASS) while escaping from a three month imprisonment in the Middle East. Oh you bet I took notes! Unfortunately my notes aren’t easy to read and I always wind up doodling all over them…

He transitions from pompous, player (albeit genius) to a high tech, butt kicking humanitarian… and he does it in style and oh so well.

Anyway, you can bet that we’re now off to GameStop to get the Iron Man game and I’m tickled and stoked at the upcoming film that the end of The Incredible Hulk hinted at.

Oh yes, I’ve also seen ‘Wanted’ recently… yeah, that’s all I have to say about that film (cool effects now and then)

Because of financial hardships recently, it took me awhile to get on the Summer Blockbuster Wagon, so I have some catching up to do.

Next up: Hancock and HellBoy 2 (because of Comic Con and sitting through the panel discussion of the creator/cast- I feel that I must watch it) and the highly anticipated, long awaited, homage to Heath Ledger; The Dark Knight!!!!!! Sigh, another summer of DC/Marvel loyalty of characters. Marvel definitely made up for last years crap- keep up the good work.
