Laying still in my room until the stroke of ten,
Waiting for the right moment to do it again.
I hear daddy snorin' loud in his bed,
Time to satisfy my youth that longs to be fed.
Out the window stealth like a cat,
Who knows if I'll ever make it back.
I'll meet you on the corner with looks that kill,
Then we'll run into the night seeking a thrill.

Vince was screaming loud on the stereo,
We sang Shout at the Devil from the bottom of our soul.
Hiding in the shadows as we approached the place,
Where most of us gathered searching for a familiar face.
I fondled the knife I held in my purse,
Knowing we'd never use it but it protected our worth.
No fear no worries we owned the night,
Evil was our friend, freedom our right.

Because we were young
Wild and free,
Living on forever
It was just you and me.
Best of friends together,
Bonded by the heart,
Hell will be heaven
If they try to tear us apart.

Dancing with our men out on street,
Grinding our hips to a different beat.
Party all night cause tomorrow may be gone,
We won't settle down til the light of dawn.
Jimmy played his guitar in the midnight air,
Saying how much you wanted him was all I would hear.
Then we chose our men for a wild time,
Panicking as the later hours began to chime.

Drinking Mad Dog Judy couldn't hold her booze,
But it got her the attention as most men are fools.
Dragged off to the distance we would hear laugh,
Knowing it was her trick to get a piece of ass.
So you and I talked until the first signs of light,
About the passions of life, the struggles the fight.
When the sun would rise you'd do a wicked grin,
And I nodded saying "Tammy, see you at ten."

Because we were young
Wild and free,
Living on forever
It was just you and me.
Best of friends together,
Bonded by the heart,
Hell will be heaven
If they try to tear us apart.
