Well, I should be more Marvel than DC and say Iron Man 2. You’d think I’d be one of the first to go out there and oooh and ahhh at the theater over the film I’ve been giddy about ever since the first one rolled credits. Alas I am pacing myself (and watching my budget). I’m not a huge fan of the packed theater and I’m even less of a fan of the ‘Sorry, sold out’ scenario. Yes I can Fandango but it costs more!
Avatar was even released a couple of weeks ago and I still haven’t purchased a copy. Am I getting frugal in my old age?
Speaking of frugality and excessive spending- the new computer I bought a few months ago (which I’m finally using), I decided to hook up an old Dell monitor I had laying around since it was brought to my attention that I could have dual monitors. I want dual monitors not for the reasons others do. I had the computer hooked up to my HDTV and rarely accessed it except to show Jonathon things found on Youtube that he’d be interested in. I originally planned for him to use the pc as a window into the world, but oddly enough Xbox 360 trumped the computer experience.
Anyway, I spent a fruitless Saturday attempting to hook two VGA monitors to the computer. One monitor to the port in the Nvidia card, the other to the motherboard. I’ve no idea why I thought it could work. I was bummed when I realized that the thing keeping me away from accessing the computer was a VGA/DVI adapter, one that I will probably have to order online because I couldn’t find one stocked in any of the local stores, and if I did find it in a store, I don’t really want to pay more than 10 bucks for it.
I accepted the fact that it’d be at least another week until my vision could be realized, and as I sighed dramatically- I wondered why the hell I didn’t just swap monitor slots. “Hook the damn Dell to the Nvidia and use the freaking computer you daft girl!” So I did, and I’m here.
On a side note: It’s Mother’s Day. A day you should be thanking your kids for making you a mom since you’re the one who decided to reproduce and there are so many others out there who would love to have kids but can’t. It’s also a day to be thankful you had a mother push you out into the world and either loved you or gifted you issues to work through… or both. Viva la Life!
How am I celebrating the day? Video games with Jonathon, getting some fresh air, BK for lunch (because they have the Iron Man 2 promo), watching Avatar On Demand, fish n chips for dinner… and then for ME- Some sauvignon blanc, True Blood and hopefully catching up on some e-mail.
The question I pose to one and all, anyone see Iron Man 2 yet? CAN you can use both the motherboard VGA and the other at the same time?

It seems as though you ought to be able to use both on-board and add-in video card at the same time, but I’ve never been able to. In my experience (on several computers), putting in a video card always disables the on-board video. If you look in the BIOS settings, you may find a setting that selects the on-board video vs. an add-in video card, and that may affect it, though it hasn’t ever helped me. However, I only use dual monitors on my Linux systems rather than on Windows, so there may be subtleties I don’t know about.
I finally went to a local pc shop and grabbed an adapter. Every alternative I tried only led to frustration
