Why be in this mundane world when the surreal world in my head is so much more inviting, exciting, and not as complex?

Star Wars Burlesque Show

Down in LA there has been a new burlesque show that have people buzzing even in a galaxy far far away. Designed by Carlos Flores, George Lucas character creations get a new boost… or should I say, “bustier”.

For you SoCal droids, if you missed the show then there’s still a chance to see it, Devil’s Playground will repeat the show on March 13.

FromĀ LA Weekly:

“Saturday night, downtown club Bordello temporarily transformed itself into Mos Eisley Cantina for a night of Tatooine-styled shenanigans helmed by Devil’s Playground. Star Wars Burlesque reimagined a host of beloved characters from the film series — from the sexy to the androgynous to the grotesque — as scantily clad female performers, with localsĀ On Blast assuming the role of cantina band.

Have you ever wondered what might happen if Jabba the Hutt accidentally swallowed one of his slave girls whole? At Star Wars Burlesque, a balloon-clad vixen bursts through the body of a worm the size of a small planet, engages in some light spanking and then chains herself to a wall.

There’s a reason why Courtney Cruz always performs last at Devil’s Playground events and it’s not simply because she founded the burlesque troupe. Her costumes, designed by Carlos Flores, are consistently over-the-top and heavily detailed, in this instance, down to the Stormtrooper pasties. She performed to Front 242’s industrial dance hit “Headhunter.”"

Yes it’s a little cheesy and fun, and although it’s not ‘my thing’, I think if I were a little more comfortable with myself you’d probably find me begging to perform as a female version of Han Solo. What can I say– I love the vest.
