Why be in this mundane world when the surreal world in my head is so much more inviting, exciting, and not as complex?

R.I.P. Angel and King of Pop…

farrah-fawcettMultiple things happened in my head as the news first came of Farrah and then later of Michael Jackson. The first was my heart was a little sad for Farrah, especially since I was touched the other day when I heard Ryan O’Neal proposed to her after all these years and she accepted… :-( I’m all teary eyed just thinking about it. Her battle that wound up finally taking her life. She fought long, hard and courageously. If not remembered for her stint in a show or few films eons ago- she’ll be remembered for her strength (and hair and bathing suit poster… hush).

Ooooh and then there’s Michael. I admit that I’ve felt him to be a little creepy in the most recent years- decade. A pop icon who gave so much of himself and his talents to the world that I almost understood why and how he became the way he did (the non-rumored aspects). Much like Britney- I kind of understood how she went a little psycho. At least for Michael- he was probably used as an example for other up and coming icons to not wind up like him… I think he was a media experiment, a societal mishap perhaps? A mixture of a f’ed up family and too much media exposure?

Regardless, R.I.P. Michael- you showed the world what talent was and we all have the fond memories of you that outshine your creepy and questionable behaviors that many of us didn’t really need exposure to, as I’m sure you really didn’t care to have exposed. Who knows what would have happened or what would have been exposed of the greats of yester-year if they had the swarming sharks that we have these days.

The last piece that hit me… as it did when David and Ed additionally passed on recently… and R.I.P. to them as well and hell… R.I.P. to anyone who has passed on… ever…. I remember a time when it would take a nightly gathering around the television to hear the big news and you could almost hear the world gasp together. Today and like with all the other celebs over the past 2 years, with internet connection- I’ve found out within a matter of minutes after the passing… and then watched the domino effect of news tumble around me. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. It’s just bursts of raw emotion- some inappropriate and then it quickly turns into yesterdays news and forgotten- like the hype of Swine Flu… It’s in your face relentlessly and then you’re watching an old shop keeper sweep the last of it under a rug.

Okay- that’s a lot of typing with a sprained wrist… off to ice it now! lol
