I used to be a big Scrubs fan and I used to refuse to view American Idol. Last year there was a shift in viewership on my part. While Scrubs rapidly went downhill- Idol all of a sudden felt interesting… or removing myself from the dating world had finally kicked in and all of a sudden I found myself surrounded by cats and American Idol on the television… (definitely a result from the social life removal).
Scrubs premiered last week on ABC and I admit I felt disappointment in what I saw, but you never know, a show can do a great turn around and shock us all. American Idol is still annoying, lackluster, and most times it’s painful, but it is addictive.
While I sit here torn between the two shows, I’m looking at the book I just began to read “Next” by Michael Crichton
(r.i.p.) and sadly I’ve only read it shortly before falling asleep and on my self forced breaks at work this week.
Addictive shows make me illiterate.
A show about doctors that is trying too hard to be over the top. A show about insecure people with a false sense of self that FOX has no problem assisting them in making spectacles of themselves.
Thankfully Wednesday isn’t Must See TV or TGI-Anything. Now back to the life sucking shows that secretly make me smile… and soon it’ll be a brain dead smiling drool.
