Optical Illusions on Streets- is this *really* a good idea?

In order to slow down traffic on some of the most notorious for speeding streets- they’ve resorted to placing optical illusions on the road so that the drivers will slow down. This of course is only an experiment… one that I see obviously flawed.

And this is why: Take your careless, speeding driver. They’re engaged in a deep conversation that goes along the lines of “OMG oh no she didn’t!… SHE DID? Well what shoes was she wearing?… HA! Those went out sooooooo two years ago- what a slut!” With this highly intellectual conversation going on, the heavy material shoe is pressing hard on the gas… the optical illusion freaks the driver out- they swerve and then hit a group of school kids waiting for their morning bus. :( Not good.

Another reason. The drivers become accustomed to the optical illusion “Oh dude, check this out (to an unsuspecting friend who has never seen a road optical illusion)” The driver floors it to freak his friend out- it turns out to really be an obstacle in the road! They hit, have a blow out and then they plow into a group of little school kids on the corner waiting for their morning bus.

THINK PEOPLE! THINK!
